The right planting location for your peony is crucial to ensure that you have many years of reliable flowering. The advice we have given our customers for years has been to plant in a location that receives six hours of sun or more a day, in a well drained place away from large trees or shrubs. Beyond those basic facts there are more considerations that could affect the health of your peony. Over-watering is at the top of the list when it comes to adverse conditions for your plant. Locating your peony next to a down spout from your house gutter system, or next to an automatic sprinkler system that waters it daily could give your peony too much water, cause crown rot, and shorten the life of your plant. | ||
